reduce, reuse
Why does my shipping box look used?
Recycling alone is no longer enough to save our planet. We have to reuse as much of our waste as possible. Diverting used boxes from recycling to reuse is the best way to move boxes up the waste hierarchy. By reusing instead of recycling, we are reducing waste, reducing demand for energy and resource, and doing something great for the environment. Instead of purchasing new boxes and packaging made from recycled material, I reuse boxes and packaging from our home (and our generous neighbors’ homes!). I know we’re playing a small part in the grand scheme of things, but every little bit makes a difference.
What else do you do to be “green”?
We try to avoid the use of plastics at all cost. I will reuse plastic bubble wrap if it happens to be in something I’ve received, and I will use packing tape to affix shipping labels until I can find a better solution.
